Can you set a maximum capacity for a stock?

Hi There,

I have only been working with Stan for a short time, and it is a great tool. I am wondering if there is a way to set a maximum capacity for a stock?

I am simply trying to model a water flow situation - i have set up a regular water input per period and want it to add to a dam until the dam reaches capacity, it should then show outflows equal to inflows for those periods where the stock is full.

I don't see any setting to define a maximum capacity for a stock, and I can't think how you might set up systems that work a bit like if statements in excel...

Can anyone help?

Thanks
Neil

Hi Neil,
In STAN it is neither possible to define a maximum capacity for stocks nor to implement if statements. Sorry!

Ok, thanks for that. Is this something that might be implemented in future you think?

If statements are definitely a good idea but I don't think that there is a way to implement them in the existing STAN framework. All we could do is to display a warning if a value exceeds a defined threshold.
